On behalf of Council, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the people of Cooma for the way they tackled the recent natural flooding disaster and the cooperation displayed between the various organisations in addressing this critical situation.
We are grateful for the assistance, professionalism, dedication and teamwork shown by the Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Services, Police and Council staff in sandbagging preparations, closure of roads, temporary support to residents who required it, and in addressing the flooding issues impacting on our communities.
Our sincere appreciation is extended to the efforts to the volunteers who offered their time and services freely and selflessly.
This event has certainly displayed the true Australian spirit.
